The design for the Iconic Eyes Pendant by Moooi was inspired by the sparkle of automotive headlights. Their shapes were modified to design a grand pendant light with a classy, powerful impact for the foyer of the Bavarian National Museum in Germany.
There's a lot that comes to mind when discussing design trends during the 1970's: from fringe embellishments and velvet-adorned furniture to sunny yet muted color palettes (think greens, oranges, yellows, and browns), shag carpeting, psychedelic patterns, and of course the iconic conversation pits. The styling seventies was an era of free-spirited, expressive design, and we're delighted to see a resurgence of this influential decade in today's interior products.
The technical complexity of the Remnant Lounge Chair by Sancal has been one of the great challenges of this project. Its simulated lightness and apparent simplicity is the fruit of extensive experimentation and engineering. The essence of design is characterized by the perfect fusion between industrial curiosity to find new constructive forms, the warmth provided by the manual and artisan work of the upholsterer, the organic elegance of the design and its impeccable details.
The Blueberry Fields Carpet by Marcel Wanders for Moooi Carpets features a 3D flower print in a burnt orange, creating a design reminiscent of the 1970s, yet remaining wholly modern.
A set of marble tables as the conclusion of research into embedded furniture with no joints or clamps: the structural design of the Eros Table involves gravity-based embedding between the top and leg made possible by the truncated-conical section of the leg itself, which easily accommodates the table top locking it in a preset position, while the weight of the material makes the embedding even tighter fitting and increases the overall stability of the entire structure. Arflex presents a new edition by Cini Boeri, the multipurpose Botolo Chair. Use it as a dining chair, a lounge chair, or as a work chair, and a place to think and be creative.
The legs are available in several colors, and you can choose from fabrics, leather, and even a shaggy fur to upholster the seat itself in.
The Wired Italic Chaise takes its characteristic cues from the Wired collection, but the falling cage is angled forward. The contrast between the forward angled cage and the angled back creates a dynamic piece suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Designed by Reza Feiz of Phase Design.
TURNTABLE OVAL by Zeitraum – the oval table for large groups. This larger format was developed based on the round TURNTABLE, providing more seating and nevertheless saving space with a centre base. The table top, the centre base and the floor plate are oval. This form requires a very sophisticated level of craftsmanship and is unique as a solid wood version.
At the end of the 60s, the architect Cini Boeri revolutionized the furniture sector with a piece that is now a classic: the Strips Modular Sofa for Arflex.
It has won the Compasso d'Oro award and is exhibited in various museums around the world. The model is characterized by a removable quilted lining, where the upholstery becomes an integral part of the design.
This sofa is available in many different configurations to suit a variety of needs.
The symmetry of tall succulent ensembles inspired French designer Mickaël Koska to form the illuminating Cactus Lamp for living spaces. His work with cactus underlines what he calls "to give life to surprising natural creations," preferring simple lines and focus to the essential.
