Project Description
The transformation of 222 North LaSalle redefines the arrival experience for one of Chicago's landmark office buildings. Led by OTJ Architects and SERENDI in collaboration with Tishman Speyer and lighting consultant Schuler Shook, the project reimagines the lobby as a hospitality-inspired destination that blends the building's historic Art Deco character with contemporary workplace design.
Drawing inspiration from leading European hotels, the redesigned lobby pairs dramatic lighting, rich materiality, and thoughtfully curated furnishings to create an environment that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. A central coffee and cocktail bar, flexible lounge settings, and an indoor-outdoor terrace anchored by a marble fireplace transform a once underutilized space into a vibrant hub for connection, collaboration, and respite. Throughout, contemporary interventions complement and celebrate the building's original architecture, creating a layered experience that feels both timeless and fresh.
Haute Living supplied a selection of the furniture specified throughout the project, helping bring the design vision to life with contemporary pieces that complement the architecture and support the lobby's flexible, hospitality-driven character.
The repositioning of 222 North LaSalle demonstrates how architecture, lighting, furnishings, and close collaboration can transform a commercial lobby into a true destination. The result is an elevated tenant experience that strengthens the property's competitive position while setting a new standard for amenity-rich office environments in Chicago.
