London born but a long time resident of New York, Anna Karlin is ready for a new adventure with this daytime version of her Block Side Table. A discovery of marble and its stunning varieties, a desire to experiment with matter and transform it into furnishings, the success of a creation on the face of it already crystallized as a must-have…all this multiplied by three pairing solutions Karlin has created by skillfully blending materials (from marble to onyx) and colors.
The spaces we occupy come in all different sizes, so it goes without saying that our furniture and lighting must do the same. Whether a piece is diminutive or colossal, we want it to add to the overall atmosphere of a space in a positive way. This week, we're highlighting some small but mighty designs that are sure to take your project to the next level.
Designed by Lorenza Bozzoli, the Be-lieve Sideboard can also double as a striking console in an entryway.
Its contemporary design is made of four fine legs supporting a sinuous, elliptical shape accented with two nets that add grace and a touch of mystery to the piece.
The brass and iron are finished with galvanic surface treatments that give them unique hues. Entirely crafted by hand, this piece is a celebration of craftsmanship and virtuosity.
Designer Jaime Hayon unveils the Aballs collection for Parachilna, which celebrates traditional artistry within a modern idiom. LED pendant fixture in painted ceramic with hand-blown glass diffuser in matte opal. In any of 3 sizes, a memorable addition to domestic environments as well as contract projects that call for a warm ambient light.
Designed by Valencia based studio MUT Design, the Block Sofa reunites the concepts of trendy design, comfortable sofas, timeless pieces and exclusive products. This amazing design was inspired by construction blocks games and the uncontrollable attraction of opposites.
Available as a 2 or 3 seater sofa. The Block collection also includes an armchair.
The Cirkus Chandelier approaches function and technology with a playful gesture. The U-shape modules can be moved and directed in any orientation. The fixture is coated ABS & painted aluminum available in charcoal, grey, green, or terracotta. Designed by BYMARS for AGO Lighting.
Initially introduced back in 1938, the Little Petra Chair is one of just a few designs by architect Viggo Boesen. Boesen was associated with Denmark’s signature design aesthetic in the 1930s called funkis style, which is distinguished by a softer and more organic aesthetic that challenges the minimalistic approach of Bauhaus.
Little Petra is surprisingly petite and therefore able to fit into all kinds of interiors. Low to the ground, it embodies the essence of a lounge chair, allowing for all kinds of seating positions.
The Hryb Tall Coffee Table was born where trees touch heaven and sing odes to the wind. Where the forest kingdom lives in dense grass, in natural equilibrium and peace. "Hyrb" is the Ukrainian word for mushroom.
Also available is the Hryb Low Coffee Table.
Yonoh presents a design with a Japanese touch. The Sumo Sofa, as its name suggests, takes its inspiration from the powerful silhouette of sumo wrestlers, contrasted with the light wooden clogs that they use to and from the ring (dohyō). The wood chosen for the collection is ash, due to its texture and grain. A wide array of stains is available: from natural shades to vibrant colors like pink or yellow. The raised seams help to define the curved lines of the piece.
Also available is the Sumo Armchair.
The Zuma Side Chair is made in SHORE's 1" thick Bold Weave custom-engineered high-performance silicone.
All of SHORE's furniture is fully outdoor/indoor. The soft, durable silicone textile is stretched over high-performance marine-grade foam, resulting in elegant curves and a soft yet sturdy form. Can be fully customized in any color or pattern.
With its sculptural and organic shape, the Little Big Chair is a welcoming lounge chair featuring an innovative hidden swivel base. With comfort as the starting point in the design the soft lines and embracing expression brings character and life into any interior setting. Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl.
The chair comes with the barnum bouclé fabric, linen, or velvet and can be customized as well to the customer’s fabric preferences.
The Slot Quadpod Table is a beautiful dining table with an expressive character, yet soft appearance. This is partially due to the round shapes of the frame. The Slot dining table is made from oak wood and available in different sizes and finishes.
Dirk van der Kooij first fell in love with low resolution 3D printing as a student, fulfilling his search for honest and functional ornamentation. The chubby chair remains his most playful child of this process, which finds its alien form through the limitations of a self-developed, plastic extruding robot.
Designed in 2012, the chubby maintains an affectionate position in the standard collection. It is held in the permanent collections of the Vitra Design Museum and The Design Museum in London.
Each chubby is printed from 10kg of chipped, recycled fridge interiors. Or, more poetically, one standard fridge.
