The FF CHAIR by Friends & Founders was developed with a focus on sustainability. At first glance the FF chairs might resemble the common steel-tube chairs that have adorned private and public spaces for generations. But the intention is far more thoughtful and rooted in a consideration of sustainable production in furniture. The FF COLLECTION is a perfect choice for modern settings. It mixes well with mid-century, iconic architecture but can also be suitable in other historical contexts.
Gold, silver, and bronze aren't just for honoring athletic achievements. Rich metallic accents add a touch of extravagance and tease the line between color and material. Enchanting no matter the scale, metallic accents ground a piece in the elements. Join us in revering metals of the moment this week by taking a look at products featuring both subtle and sensational gold, silver, and bronze.
The Miira 8 Circular by Nuura has a classic appearance and is designed to hang high or low from the ceiling. A special wire system is used to adjust the height with ease. The Miira chandelier comprises a powder-coated metal ring in a dark bronze color and, from this, mouth-blown glass domes in opal white glass spread a sensuous light. The simple, classic design makes this chandelier a useful element in many interior designs.
The unique shape of the Ella Long Chair by Piet Boon, allows the Ella series to be the perfect flexible luxury addition to any interior design. The Ella Long Chair is infused with the same non-geometric contour as its sofa counterpart. The different elements of the Ella are connected by solid unique hand shaped bronze legs, giving it its unique artisanal character.
Inspired by the Northern California coastline, the Coast Chair by Ghidini 1961 draws its influence from a landscape of wandering, golden hills and the meandering roads that intersect them. Blending refined architectural elements with fluid gestures, the chair’s form brings surprising design moments to a functional, everyday object. The controlled, geometric legs provide a strong foundation for the more expressive upper section. The backrest appears to float using discreet joinery, and is framed by a brass arc, which acts as both a touch-point to move the chair and a resting place for a coat or bag. Designed by Branch Creative.
Coast is available with matching dining table.
Designer Jaime Hayon unveils Aballs, which celebrates traditional artistry within a modern idiom. LED pendant fixture in painted ceramic with hand-blown glass diffuser in matte opal. In any of 3 sizes, a memorable addition to domestic environments as well as contract projects that call for a warm ambient light.
The Aballs collection also features a table lamp, wall lamp, and chandelier in three sizes.
Swedish design studio Note presents the Tonella Stool, the most slender product in the Tonella collection from Sancal.
Spanish wine barrel staves are the inspiring element as they have been with the other products in the range, although, on this occasion, Note has taken this design accent to the limit. The metal rods acquire much more prominence in the stool than in their predecessors.
The seat cushion, upholstered in fabric or leather, adopts a demure presence and gives an ethereal aesthetic to the whole piece. The metal support is available in two heights and two finishes: bronze or nacar.
The Rondo Mirror gets its remarkable color effect from the metal being glossed with a special lacquer. The minimalist mirror takes its form from Zieta’s unique FIDU process of shaping metal with compressed air. Each Rondo is thus one of a kind, its polished surface catching the light and giving surrounding reflected objects a dramatic perception.
The Haller Media (O2) features two open shelves, two drop down doors, and one cable cut out; and is made from powder coated steel and chrome plated steel tubes. Designed by Swiss architect Fritz Haller and Paul Schaerer in 1963, the USM Haller system is built to last for generations and adapt as your needs change.
The Haller System is available in a variety of quick ship applications.
The Foundry Floor Light by Resident is elegant and graphic, standing 1.9 meters high and tracing a rectangular volume in space. At the base, precious hand-cast bronze provides a solid counterweight to the cantilevered height of the lamp. Ideal for compact spaces. Designed by Cheshire Architects.
A reissue of a historic design by Gianfranco Frattini, Sesann Sofa by Tacchini is part of a collection of sofas and armchairs with soft, cosy forms that evoke feelings of warmth and sensuality, thanks to the tubular metal frame, which acts as an architectural structure, enveloping, containing and accentuating the cushioning. Sesann commands its space with its bold volumes and elegant, sophisticated design. With a choice of leather or fabric coverings to create striking combinations of colours and textures between the cushions, frame and ash wood feet.
Oskar Zieta's series Steel in Rotation Chaise Long allows for the ultimate expression of pioneering FiDU technology and his Chaise Long is another unparalleled artistic triumph. Configured from lengths of welded steel that are inflated like a balloon using high-pressure air, it serves as both a dramatic sculpture and invitingly languid seating. In either inky carbon or silvery stainless steel finish, the chaise is also much lighter than it first appears since minimal material is needed in production—a fascinating paradox of the innovative process.
Curvaceous, soft and low-slung, the Pacha Lounge Chair with Armrest by Gubi is a joyfully modernist creation which embraces both extreme comfort and effortless versatility. Iconic designer Pierre Paulin’s vision was to create a sensation of ‘sitting on clouds’. A little ahead of its time in 1975, the modular Pacha Collection is finally coming into its own today. Taking up very little floor space, it is extraordinarily comfortable. The added armrest provides even more support, allowing one to lean with ease to either side. There is also a choice between a fixed or swiveling base.
