While bringing back past designs is not a new concept, the Due Più Lounge Chair from Acerbis (originally created by Nanda Vigo in 1971), is a daring homage to nostalgia, featuring an enigmatic and striking form. The unique use of two rollers that seem to float is the key characteristic of this emblematic design, showcasing Vigo's fusion of two distinct styles. The minimalist metallic structure, reflecting light, embodies the "esprit de géométrie," while the use of Mongolian fur exemplifies an eccentric and pioneering spirit.
The Salone del Mobile and Milan Design Week are all about expecting the unexpected. Each year, the city of Milan becomes the stage for the world's top brands and designers to showcase their creativity and innovation, shaping the future of our visual landscape in real time. Haute Living has been a part of this spectacle since our inception, and one thing remains constant: the next best-seller is unpredictable, but there are always many contenders. From Milan to You, here are just a few of the exciting products to watch out for in 2023.
The Vector Pendant, created by Lukas Peet for AND, features a slender rectilinear section that skillfully incorporates slight openings on architectural planes, playing with voids and volumes. The luminaire is designed to direct light and create a gradient effect as it washes down the inner sloped surfaces. The Vector's form is both simple and comprehensible, while the materiality is bold and robust, with options for weathered steel, black steel, or polished stainless steel finishes.
The 1958 Moulin chair family were some of Pierre Paulin’s first commercial pieces exploring Mid-Century Modern aesthetics. This year, Artifort is enriching the Moulin chair family with the introduction of model CM190: Moulin Lounge Chair. Moulin Lounge is an elegantly minimalist armchair combined with modern comfort. It is recognizable by its slender steel frame connecting the shell of the seat, the backrest and the optional armrests.
Lorenzo Bini's Orpheus Dining Table is a contemporary piece of design inspired by the work of Cy Twombly, characterized by an indefinite shape, a gesture, and a single material. The marble top, obtained by tracing a portion of the famous "Orpheus" painting from 1979, is supported by five legs, which consist of slightly staggered strips of the same marble.
The Carmel Coffee Table is a part of a versatile family of hybrid coffee tables suitable for indoor and outdoor use, which introduces ceramics to the GUBI material palette. Created by OEO and crafted with single-fired Italian stoneware, the tables are available in three sizes and feature a protective high-gloss colored glaze, providing a vibrant and energetic look. This design evokes the free-spirited and carefree bohemian lifestyle of the Californian coast, reflecting a sense of relaxation and luxury.
Designed by Annabelle Klute, the Kaisa Side Table is a beautiful example of sculptural elegance, inspired by both the art deco jewelry and industrial glass advancements of its era. The table features abstract faceted and linear forms that are both visually striking and functional. The table's attention to detail and reflective properties draw the viewer's eye, making it a captivating addition to any space.
The Flow Stool, crafted by Verter Turroni for Imperfetto Lab, embodies a sense of awe and comfort through its solid construction and seemingly floating appearance. Its form features precise cuts that yield rounded corners and sinuous lines, showcasing the stool's sharp yet fluid design.
