Designed by Jonas Lutz for La Chance, the Block Armchair was inspired by the Brutalist architectural movement. Two massive blocks of walnut form the structure and the armrests, give the armchair its singular silhouette. This geometric identity is balanced by the lightness and comfort of the seat upholstered in wool or a luxurious sheepskin.
The nearly week-long 2019 Salone del Mobile wrapped up on Sunday in Milan, and Haute Living was there for every thrilling minute of it. We observed a subtle shift in design's purpose, with more emphasis on engagement and experience of the products than mere aesthetics - a reaction to an increasingly digital culture. A protection of and connection to nature, and its importance to wellbeing, was also evident in exhibits outfitted with abundant greenery - if only to say that technology cannot replicate or replace it. Design trends included an increase of mixing materials, offering a richer, more textured product landscape. Finally, we saw the beginning of the end of muted colors, with many designs featured in saturated, bold hues - a chromatic wake-up call!
After a successful and compelling week of design exploration, we are truly excited to bring you the Best of Salone del Mobile 2019.

With the sublime F416 Armchair, which was brought onto the market by Artifort in 1960, renowned designer Kho Liang Ie made a clear statement that was far ahead of its time. In his voyage of discovery undertaken within the strict social constraints of the late 1950s, he sought the contrast between soft materials and rigid structures.

From Desalto, the Strong Bar Table and Stool are characterized by the curved tube which both creates its structure and defines its design.
Also from ANDlight, the Pebble Pendant celebrates the inexplicable and beautiful qualities of stones. Enhancing their simple yet structural form through translucency, two glass blown shapes come together to create a seemingly bespoke pendant fixture - endlessly evolving in shape as it appears from different angles. Designed by Lukas Peet.
The Suiseki Sofa is a comprised of a collection of padded seats inspired – as its name suggests – by the Japanese art of arranging naturally occurring stones. Spontaneous, harmonious lack of alignment takes the place of geometric shapes in the simple modular units with organic volumes.
The Hutchison series by Lambert & Fils is a thoughtful study of soft curves and hard lines—a rivalry of vertical and horizontal forces and a play of scale and repetition. Alone, it self-defines as a frank, decorative pendant light. In multiples, it evokes the iconic patterns of Middle Eastern archways and Roman terracotta roofs.
The George Sofa by Linteloo is inspired by the lifestyle of the people living around Lake Como. It is defined by the floating modern look, combined with generous cushions and a high back for extra support and comfort.

Designed for Articles by Anna Von Schewen, the Boxlike Sofa is named for its geometric and strong frame, but filled with comfortable firm cushioning. An Architonic "Architect's Selection" for 2019.
An extension of Coedition's You collection, the You Low Armchair is a lounge chair design with rounded shape and plush seat.
The Strong Table and Chairs are clear and solid designs from Eugeni Quitllet for Desalto.
The Antipode Coffee Table by Imperfetto Lab stands on only three feet, but does not tremble or lose its balance. An unshakable point is found between the carbonized wood-effect base and round top.
