Modern Woods

Humans have always had a deep, intrinsic connection with wood, one of the oldest and most commonly used materials in furniture construction. From oiled walnut to stained oak, the material is exceptionally versatile and undoubtedly timeless. Using both traditional craftsmanship and innovative techniques, these Modern Wood designs can make a lasting connection in your next project.

FLY SOFA BY &TRADITION

Unlike many of the sofas and easy chairs in Scandinavian design history, Fly does not impose any particular posture onto the sitter. The seat itself is optimized for comfort, with loose cushions for the back that can be arranged according to the user’s own needs.

But Fly adheres to tradition in other respects; the frame of the sofa and armchair, with a slatted back rest, is made from solid oak, treated with white pigmented oil or smoked oil. It is the type of material and treatment that ages with true grace, only becoming more beautiful with time. The sofa is available with or without built-in tables.

LIUKU PENDANT BY MATER DESIGN

Liuku is a contemporary pendant lamp designed by Finnish designer Maija Puoskari. Liuku is consisting of a coloured mouth-blown glass shade nestling over an FSC-certified alder base in two different shapes, with long-life LED built in. Additionally, the wooden base can be used on it’s own as a single pendant, or to create a rows and clusters for both residential and commercial environments.

PALLET BY PULPO

Thinking about the first significant furniture for pulpo with the typical spontaneous, artistic and crafted attitude Sebastian Herkner wanted to design a simple but also well-refined daybed. Pallet is a daybed with a wooden base and a soft mattress, covered with natural leather. The mattress is fixed to the base with a cuff made of the same leather.

FIN DINING CHAIR BY MATTHEW HILTON

Fin chair is a solid wooden chair that celebrates its minimalism with a unique shape and sturdy, thin legs. This solid wood chair brings nature to the dining room with simple elegance. The backrest emerges from the legs as a fin from the sea.

SHELL BARSTOOL BY MATER DESIGN

The Shell barstool is an interpretation of the Shell chair, and is also designed by the American designer Michael Dreeben and inspired by traditional craft practices in North India, particularly saddle making. Exquisite saddles have been produced in India for centuries, and although some horse culture persists, it’s diminishing as India becomes more technologically developed. The Shell chairs attempt to revitalize this skilled trade by providing leather stitching artisans with a global market for their craft, and hopefully encourage them to pass it on to younger generations.

RIALTO SIDEBOARD BY RIVA 1920

In a modern and sleek design, Giuliano Cappelletti encases wood drawers in a metal frame in the Rialto sideboard. The strength of the frame is juxtaposed with the more fragile, worn Briccole wood that has been salvaged from the Venetian lagoon. Also available as a highboard, "Rialto" provides a sense of harmony and ease in any space.

GIRAFFE LOW TABLE BY BROTHERS AND SONS

With its elegant legs, the Giraffe Low table stands out! This table is a beautiful spatially designed object with tactile shapes. The Giraffe is suitable for residential, office and hospitality use.

MOON LOUNGER BY WILDSPIRIT

The design of the Moon Lounger blinks cautiously to the avant-garde creations of Charles Eames. The combined use of traditional raw materials such as wood and leather forms a nice contrast to the contemporary design. Its wooden frame is united with the hexagonical eye catcher at the back of the chair. The rounded corners throughout the design give it a soft, feminine appearance.

FIJI STOOLS BY RIVA 1920

Fiji is a solid wood barrel-shaped stool made of scented cedar wood. The seat is slightly hollowed for greater comfort. Any cracks or splits, before or after sale, are absolutely normal, being typical features of solid wood that, as it ages and becomes seasoned, moves according to the different conditions of the setting and humidity of the air.

RAILWAY CARPET BY WOODNOTES

Railway is a simple carpet suitable for any modern interior. The stripe is reminiscent of its namesake: railroad tracks. Due to the tight weave of the carpets, they do not ignite easily, making them ideal for contract or residential applications. Paper yarn is also antistatic, easy to clean, and suitable for people with allergies.
