What's New In Design?

While Bauhaus and Modernism continue to be an inspiration for the studio, with the "Laurent collection", Lambert & Son takes a distinctly contemporary track. The studio distills a globe during its duality between sphere and circle to its essence. In keeping with its commitment to work with local, skilled trades, the team said to the expertise of a Quebec glass blower to craft this latest piece. An adjustable suspension system of wires and anchors allows the final form to vary, from a pure, minimalist orb to something more intricate and Art Deco. "Our research focused on the surface and the form. Here, the globe acts as the link between the two, "says Samuel Lambert, the studio's founder and lead designer. The various variations make it an apt lighting fixture for the home as well as for applications in the public realm where Laurent can really take on its fullest dimension through a rhythmic repetition.

With its outstretched arms like a friend ready to greet you with a warm, welcoming hug, the "Catch Lounge Chair" builds on Hayon’s penchant for humour and personification. At the same time, it introduces a higher back and elongated seat in a singular shell supported by a metal armature. The result is a leisure chair that’s angled back just a bit – so you can sit down, relax and, as the name implies - lounge. “The more we work with Hayon, the more we appreciate his ability to bring humanity and warmth to all his concepts,” says &tradition Brand Director Martin Kornbek Hansen. “Historically, classic lounge chairs had a somewhat aloof aspect to them. However Hayon has managed to make the "Catch Lounge Chair" more personal and inclusive, setting the scene for a more intimate atmosphere and conversation. Which coincides with our Danish idea of cosy. Something we call hyggeligt.“ As Hayon sees it, “A lounge chair should be inviting to look at. In a way, it should be almost irresistible. Meaning you can’t help but sit back, get comfortable and have a chat. That’s what I wanted to achieve. With the added element of the two arms, like a friend, happy to welcome you.”

The "Belle" armchair. This lush, low seater is modest in size and unstinting in proportion, making it the perfect addition to any interior. Its rounded shape, smooth lining, and layered elements gives the "Belle" its friendly and flexible character, ready to socialize whatever the setting may be.

"Liuku" is a contemporary pendant lamp designed by Finnish designer Maija Puoskari. Liuku is consisting of a coloured mouth-blown glass shade nestling over an FSC-certified alder base in two different shapes, with long-life LED built in. Liuku’s shade is available with clear glass or in three beautiful tones of smoke, gradient violet or deep dark. Additionally, the wooden base can be used on it’s own as a single pendant, or to create a rows and clusters for both residential and commercial environments.

"Brick" is a system of transversal storage units for the different home interiors. Featuring a broad choice of modules which, when combined, produce solutions with different functions and personalities. "Brick" is also designed to house electronic appliances such as Hi-Fi systems, thanks to the back panel which is ready to run cables. With the addition of cushions, the base in lacquered metal with height-adjustable feet becomes a comfortable bench.

The "BO" sofa. Created to adapt to any social setting, the generously proportioned "BO" sofa is both rich in comfort and versatility. Its rounded shape, equally comfortable seating elements, organic interplay of lines and flexibility to adapt to any social setting give the "BO" its amiable character.

A table that suddenly becomes the protagonist, a sculpture. Unique engravings characterize the top, like old material eroded by the passing of time. Metal veins provide strength and balance, reminding you of art nouveau decorations.

"Pinch" sofas and armchairs have slender tubular metal frames that hold together the simple padded backrest and armrest pieces. Different heights and widths can be combined to create a number of solutions and compositions, all of which are cosy and inviting. The products in their various forms can be complemented by comfortable cushions and practical round tables that can be placed on either side.

The "Mini Crescent Multi Light" pendant is a miniature chandelier version of the popular "Crescent" light. The illuminated sphere is sliced asymmetrically in half to reveal a crescent-shaped brushed brass fascia.

Characterised by a mix of styles, today a winning approach to further express the most elegant modern character, the neat lines that recall the shapes of the ‘50s of the elegant and cosy "Lady Jane" by Christophe Pillet. A timeless, poetic and at the same time rigorous bergère characterized by a multi-faceted soul, for the home and also for the office.

The "hoop and stick" lamp balances with a solid brass bar and emits light through an LED strip that sits incased in the ash wood hoop. Each lamp comes with an inline dimmer as standard.

The RAAF table, as a bold new addition to the current dining series, the timeless wooden RAAF series reflects the Studio Piet Boon carpenters roots and a keen eye for proportions. Its robust and elegant appeal showcases a perfect combination of functionality, aesthetics, and individuality.
